Hollis DAR Hosts Historic Home Tour

The Hollis Anna Keyes Powers DAR Chapter is sponsoring the Historic Gould Tavern Museum Home Tour October 6, 2024, 1-5pm. The tour features 10 rooms, including the tavern room, gentlemen’s meeting room, ladies’ parlor, bed chambers, store and more.

In addition to the regular museum rooms, this tour will have special displays from the 1800s, including several pieces of women’s clothing, Civil War era quilts, rug hooking examples, old tools, pistol & powder horn, spinning & weaving, lamp collection, china head dolls and doll carriages, equestrian ephemera, quill pen making, sleigh, tatting sampler, embroidery and more. See a table where George Washington dined.

Refreshments will be served thanks to Fulcino Vineyard, The Cozy Tea Cart and Brookdale Farm.

Admission is $20 through Eventbrite and $25 at the door.

The mission of DAR is to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. The Hollis Chapter participates in Hollis Veterans Day, Memorial Day and Constitution Week. It sponsors an eighth grade American History Essay Contest and high school senior Good Citizen Essay Contest and award. The chapter is involved with local gravestone cleaning. Donations are made to various veterans’ programs, including our local Delta Dog. Many DAR meeting programs are open to the public, including a Humanities Presentation each year.
